Make a candy lei out of Lindt Lindor Truffles and attach a free printable coloring tag.
Many years ago, I shared a candy bar and money graduation lei tutorial. For Mother’s Day this year, my kids wanted to give their grandma chocolate, so I decided to make a variation of the candy bar lei and use on of my mom’s favorite treats– Lindor truffles.
I created a printable tag so that my daughter could decorate it however she wanted and it turned out so cute that I made a bunch of different tags for different occasions and have turned them into a free printable for you to enjoy.
This is a super easy crafty gift and you don’t necessarily need to use Lindor truffles. I think you could use the same method with any candy that has wrapper tails on both ends. Wouldn’t it be cute to make a saltwater taffy candy lei?!
To make a candy lei, you’ll need the following supplies:
Materials Needed
- Lindt Lindor Truffles (or another candy with wrapper tails)
- Free Printable (download at the end of this post)
- Cardstock
- Curling Ribbon
- Scissors
- Hole Punch
Instructions
Step 1: Tie the candies together by overlapping the tails. Slip a length of curling ribbon around the two tails and tie a knot. Curl the ribbon ends.
Step 2: Keep going until you’ve attached all of the candy together into a big circle. I bought the 8.5 oz bag, which had 20 candies inside and it made a lei just long enough to fit over a head.
Step 3: Print the free designs onto a piece of cardstock. Let your child color and decorate the appropriate tag, then cut it out. Punch a hole in the top. String a piece of curling ribbon through, then tie it to the candy lei.
And that’s it! Cute, easy, handmade… three of my favorite things ever!
