If you love roses and the smell of vanilla, then you're going to love this fabulous Vanilla Rosebuds Petals Soap, made with real rosebuds petals that I'm sharing with you today.
It's been a while since I've shared a beauty DIY. It doesn't mean that I've stopped making them, but I haven't been too inclined to share until now. After my exfoliating lavender soap and even my foaming hand soap, I took a break and made a few other things that I thought were more share-worthy, including this hot mess tie-dye tote that Madison loves to take along with her when we go shopping. My bath soak was such a hit that I ended up making it not once, but three times since then. My husband especially loved the mint edition, which I promise I'll share with you one of these days.
It's also now official; travel is no longer on the table. All travel plans for 2020 has now been officially canceled. I recently canceled my final trip, which was for later this year just a few days ago. I've decided to put together a travel bucket list, and even add a few national parks to our travel list as we may be here in the US for the rest of the year. In the meantime, I've put my Amazon Prime membership to excellent use, ordering tons of supplies for my handmade soaps, and other craft projects I've been working on.
The Coronavirus, or "Rona," as I like to call it, is still here. Don't let everything that's happening in the world right now detract you from that. Handwashing is essential, and with hand sanitizers still scarce on the market, nothing beats good ole soap and water. I prefer to make my own. They're a lot more natural as I know exactly what I'm putting there, and I can keep additives at a minimum.
This vanilla rosebuds petals soap that I'm sharing today is very simple to make and not only smells fantastic but is creamy and luxurious too. For this, I used goat's milk, which is very rich, and the essential oils are just enough to entice your senses. I also added sweet almond oil for moisturization, as soap can be drying to the skin. Sweet almond oil leaves your hands and body feeling soft and hydrated.
Here's what you'll need:
INGREDIENTS:
1lb Goats Milk Soap Base
10 drops French Vanilla Essential Oil
10 drops Rose Essential Oil
5 drops Rose Pink Soap Coloring
1tbsp Sweet Almond Oil
¼ cup Rosebuds Petals
SUPPLIES:
Soap Mold
Microwavable Glass Cup/Bowl
Alcohol in a spray bottle
DIRECTIONS:
STEP 1: Begin by cutting your soap base into 1" cubes. Place your soap base into a microwavable glass measuring cup or bowl.
STEP 2: Place your cup or bowl into the microwave (you can also use a double boiler). If using the microwave, melt your cubes in 30-second increments. Stir after each increment until your soap is completely melted.
STEP 3: Your soap base will be hot once you've completed the melting process, so let it cool a tad before adding your essential oils. You can now also add your colorant, oil, and your rosebuds petals* to the mixture.
Note: Please don't overdo it on the color as your rosebuds petals will also add its color to your soap.
*Be sure to crush your petals into smaller pieces are you have big chunks in there. If you'd like to have more of the petals showing through at the top and bottom, use about ¾ of your rosebuds petals in the mixture and sprinkle some on the bottom of your mold. Once poured, sprinkle the rest on the top.
STEP 4: Pour your melted soap into your soap mold. (As mentioned above, this is when you will sprinkle some of your rosebuds petals if you want to see more of it at the top and bottom.)
STEP 5: Spray your poured soap with rubbing alcohol to remove bubbles.
STEP 6: Leave it to harden and cool on the countertop for about an hour before removing from the mold. If you want it to set faster, you can also place it in the refrigerator, but it's not encouraged.
STEP 7: Once it's hardened, remove from the mold and use it as you would any soap.
As you can see in the photo below, I didn't do such a great job of removing the bubbles this time, but since I'm using these for myself, you won't notice it after the first handwash.
I especially loved how these vanilla rosebuds petals soap bars turned out. The mold gave them an adorable pattern, and the smell is just divine. I placed these in the bathroom so the kids can wash their hands more often, but you can also use these in the shower if you're looking for an exfoliating bar.

These also make great handmade gifts, so wrap them in some pretty cardstock paper or ribbon and give them your favorite family member, friend, or even neighbor. They'll appreciate it, I'm sure.
