Ready or not, Father’s Day is Sunday, June 19, 2022, and there are as many fun ways to spend a day with Dad as there are dads. We’ve rounded up local destinations to create this guide and packed it with ideas for East Bay families looking for together time.

Take the field just like the Green and Gold this Father’s Day at the special Father’s Day Play Catch Event on Sunday, June 19th at the A’s Game. After the A’s take on the Kansas City Royals, kids and their father figures are invited to:
- play catch on the field
- enjoy an autograph session with A’s players
- take home a Major League Baseball ball.

Father’s Day Activities
Oakland A’s Game. Cheer for the Athletics alongside dad as the team takes on the Royals at 1:07 pm. Fathers can play catch on the field and kids can run the bases to make the day extra special. Get tickets >
Berkeley Brunch Bay Cruise. Hornblower Cruises offers a two-hour brunch on the SF Bay in honor of Father’s Day. Adults $95, Kids $75, children ages 3 and younger are free. Book your spot >
Get creative. At Michaels stores, drop-in craft sessions enable kids to make a painted canvas. Best for kids ages 3 and up. All supplies are included. Learn more >
Find zen in the garden. Dads can join a special Father’s Day yoga session at Ruth Bancroft Garden. The event is for adults only. Reserve a space >
Outdoor adventure. There are dozens of ways to play outside with your family. Pick your favorite hike or outing and force the kids into a gentle “No whining, it is Father’s Day” agreement. Choose a route that allows you to splash in the local creeks together or plan an all-day adventure to Angel Island.
Go to a Juneteenth Celebration. Father’s Day and Juneteenth fall on the same day this year. Commemorate both holidays together as a family.
Visit the farm. The East Bay is filled with family-friendly farms. Enjoy visiting with goats, chickens and cows. There may even be special activities and crafts, animal feeding opportunities, or pony rides to make the day even more memorable.
Strolling & Selfies. With goody bags, a selfie station, and live music, families are encouraged to walk around Fourth Street after brunch to enjoy the vibe together. This event happens on Saturday and is an easy way to start a weekend-long celebration of dad. Just show up >
Hike to a pancake breakfast. Enjoy Father’s Day breakfast at Mt. Tam’s historic West Point Inn. The hike is fun, the views are spectacular and the pancakes are tasty.
See planes and dance. The Oakland Aviation Museum is hosting a special Planes, Trains, and Automobiles event in honor of Father’s Day. There will also be live musical performances.
All aboard! Families can ride the rails on a unique Father’s Day Steam Train ride through the Santa Cruz forest. Learn more >
Round of golf. Maybe he’d like to take the kids for some par 3 golfing action or send him alone! There are also mini-golf tee times.
Go fishing in one of the East Bay spots for casting a line.

Favorite Restaurant. To help dad enjoy the day, order a giant family-size meal or something tasty from one of the many Black-owned East Bay eateries. You could also pick up cool merch as gifts or gift cards to be used later.

Gifts you can make at home
Dad Rocks. Use your custom-painted Dad Rocks rocks as paperweights or hide them in your neighborhood to bring smiles to others.
Kid crafty Father’s Day card. Made with love and their own messy handwriting, adorable craft projects. #1 Dad, and done!
Kid painted portrait of Dad. Here’s a coloring page template you can use as a jumping-off point to frame a kid drawing or painting of Dad.
Handmade tee shirts. This one is pretty easy: grab some WASHABLE markers and write a message of love on the kids’ clothes or hers: I love Dad, Dad Rules, I love Tacos & Dad, etc.
