San Diego Kids Weekend Events: April 1-3

The days are longer, flowers are blooming and farmers’ markets are sprouting up all over the county—April is officially here. The first Friday of the month offers plenty of kid-centric events like Kids’ Night out and a free craft day at San Diego Craft Collective and the weekend events keep going with One Paseo’s Street Art Block Party on Saturday. First Friday Free Kids’ Craft
Every First Friday of the month San Diego Craft Collective hosts a free kids’ craft! The month of April will be woodworking, creating spring-related flower string art. Using nails, a hammer and string your student will create a unique string art project to take home! Fri. Event details. 

Kids’ Night Out
Kid’s Night Out is a win-win for everyone! Parents, take the night off because Kid’s Night Out is all about the kids. Offered every first Friday of the month during the school year, kids in grades 1-5 will enjoy a themed night of recreation games, arts and crafts, special presenters, movies, and so much more. One Paseo’s Street Art Block Party
One Paseo’s annual Street Art Block Party is Saturday, April 2 from 12 pm to 4 pm! The event will feature four local chalk artists, six muralists, art supplies for children to create their own chalk art and a special activation led by the New Children’s Museum for kids to show off their special talents. The featured artist is local favorite Stefanie Bales who will be showcasing work created for the event as part of her partnership with The San Diego Museum of Art.  One Paseo is also hosting a Petal Pop-up flower art experience along Caminito Court, which is where the Street Art Block Party will take place. Finish the day with fun, upbeat tunes and energy from synchronized performance roller-skaters, Flash Point Dance Group. This event is free and open to the public Sat. Event details.  

Little Italy Mercato Farmers’ Market
Come stroll through the Little Italy Mercato Farmers’ Market this Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., where over 200 tents line W. Date Street from Kettner Boulevard to Front Street. The options are endless—you can enjoy an incredible selection of farm-fresh produce, pastured eggs and poultry, meat, fish, flowers, local artisan food and more! Poway Farmers’ Market
The Farmers Market currently offers 65 vendors providing fresh produce, flowers, music, and freshly-prepared food. All produce is certified, inspected by the agricultural commission, and is brought to you fresh from the grower. Sat. Event details. 

Visit The Flower Fields
Behold over 50 acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus flowers that offer a wondrous display of color. Also enjoy a wagon ride pulled by an antique tractor, a sweet pea maze, mining for gemstones, a Santa’s village-themed playground and more. Fri-Sun. Event details.
