Lutheran Church of Hope will celebrate its German heritage with the seventh annual Oktobeerfest on Sept. 23 and 24 at 1305 W. 10th Avenue in Broomfield. The public is invited to the party.
Festivities run from 5-9 p.m. on Sept. 23 and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sept. 24.
The Broomfield neighborhood congregation shares its facilities with Scouts, a Little Library and Anchor House, while its ministry projects collect and distribute food, school supplies, clothing, stuffed animals, books, quilts and more.
Proceeds from Oktobeerfest benefit these community outreach ministries and the inner-church programs that support them. Since 2015, more than $63,000 have been donated. After a hiatus in 2020, Oktobeerfest came back in 2021 to donate $14,153 to Friends of Broomfield History, Scholarship of Hope, Cracks of the Cracks, Marshall Fire Victims, Shimmering Wings and Hope House.
Besides local craft beers, cider and seltzers, there will be wine and soft drinks, plus a variety of international goodies. Brats and hot dogs, buttery grilled corn, homemade desserts, cheese curds, caramel apples, Italian sausage cannoli, fresh green chili and apple strudel will be on the menu.
Traditional carnival games and inflatables will keep the kids busy, while adult gaming includes a 50/50 raffle, Bingo and Pickles (pull tabs). Art and Craft vendors will offer unique shopping opportunities.
Event admission is free. Tickets for games, food and beverages begin at $1.
Folk band Pennies on the Track will entertain from 6-9 p.m. on Sept. 23. The Sept. 24 performances will feature Prost Hope, LCHope’s newest Oktobeerfest musical group, led by director Kenda Meyer; young dancers from Flatirons Dance; and Rhinelanders, a German show and dance band. There will be traditional oompah music and room to polka, both days. It will be wunderbar!
Supporting LCHope’s Oktobeerfest is the community’s chance to extend a helping hand to those in need and have fun doing it.
