This year National Library Week will be celebrated April 3-9. The week is set aside to celebrate the contributions of libraries, librarians and library workers in schools, campuses and communities nationwide. The theme for 2022 is Connect With Your Library. National Library Week was first celebrated in 1958.

Sterling Public Library will celebrate National Library Week with a small treat on Sunday, April 3, for anyone who checks out materials. During the week the library will provide patrons the opportunity to decorate a fabric book bag. Book bags may be decorated during the following times: Monday, April 4, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 5, 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 6, 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 7, 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., and Friday, April 8, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Book bag decorating will be available while supplies last. We can’t wait to see your creativity on a book bag.

On Tuesday, April 5 at 6:00 p.m. Jason Huggins will provide a program about Carnegie Libraries. Jason has some wonderful information about libraries that received funding from Mr. Carnegie including our own here in Sterling.

On Thursday, April 7 the library will provide our Teen Movies. The movie is for teens only and will begin at 5:15 pm. The library will provide refreshments.

Saturday, April 9 is the library’s annual Bunny Hop from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. for kids of all ages. You can drop in anytime. The Easter Bunny will be available for photos during that time so bring your cameras. We will also have lots of activities for the kids. There will be a craft, a coloring contest, games, movies and refreshments. Be sure to stop in the library for an afternoon of fun.
