Where is Jesus mini book

Lift-the-flap books are fun. Kids love them, it’s a great way to keep kids engaged with the book you’re reading. Somewhere on Pinterest, I have saved a couple of homemade lift-the-flap books that I knew someday I would make my own variation. Then as I was brainstorming ideas for new Bible lessons and writing my massive list of Boy Jesus at the temple activities, I knew my time had come! I created the Where is Jesus mini-book to put together, and I’m super excited about it.

Putting together the Where is Jesus mini book

Cut out the pages, and the lift the flap pieces. Wait! Backup, color all of the pages first.

Now you can cut everything out. I suppose you could color it afterwards, but I find it’s easier to color if you haven’t cut everything out.

Out of curiosity, do you think that too?

Now, my sample is made using the pre-colored version.

Then start gluing the flaps on. I like to glue it where the flap lifts up, but I guess you could just as easily have the flap open to the side, or flip down.

Once you have it all done, stack the papers together and staple it.

I love fun crafts like this

Right after I said I prefer to have the flap go up, I look and see most of my sample pictures are with the flap going down.

Think of all the discussions you could have with kids as you put together the minibook.

You could talk about where they might have gone to look for him.

Or if they ever got lost and had to wait for their parents to find them? Did they ever have to ask for help?

What other Bible stories would you make a lift the flap book for?

There are the obvious ones like the Parable of the Lost Coin or the Parable of the Lost Sheep.

Oh! I’m starting to think you could potentially also do this for a fun Parable of the Sower, and turn it into a book that way.

Okay, I’m starting to think of lots of fun ideas.
