I was invited to a church dinner called “Dinner for Eight” where four couple that normally wouldn’t get together meet at someone home for dinner. The host said he was going to cook lasagna and asked everyone else to bring a salad, breadstick or dessert. The only thing I could imagine having time for was a salad as it was on a Sunday night.
Original Recipe
Easy Caesar Salad for a Crowd by Betty Crocker
INGREDIENTS
- 1cup Caesar dressing
- 2bunches romaine, torn into bite-size pieces (20 cups)
- 2cups Caesar or garlic-flavored croutons
- 2/3cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- Freshly ground pepper
How I deviated from the original recipe?
I had one bag of spinach and one bag of arugula. It’s literally all they had at the Lidl down the street.
I added cucumbers, and I had bought a container of cherry tomatoes but forgot it at home.
Directions:
- Put the lettuce in. Mix the others.
- That’s it.
The End Result?
It was good. I was so nervous after I found out the host was a sort of home-grown chef and cooked all the church dinners. The other guests said they liked it.
