Sorry to be gone so long but I went to my sister's memorial service last week with my daughter. We did a lot of sight seeing that we had planned the rest of the week (we had hoped she might be able to come with us). I miss her a lot.
Husband stayed at home and I thought you might want to know what I left him to eat.
1.Homemade pizza
2.Stoffer's lasagna ($8 on sale and I had a $4 mperks coupon)-husband and daughter thought it was delicious.
3 Chicken and sides (A Meijer Market Meal)-daughter said it was very good.
4. Spaghetti- (A Meijer Market Meal) -I bought a total of 4 meals (one for daughter and him) for $15.00 from Flashfood.
5. Hamburgers ready to go on the grill
6. Hot dogs grilled the day before.
7. He went out to eat for a day.
Well, of course he had his own ideas and he grilled some more meat one day. We had his hot dogs yesterday. Today I think we will have the chicken and sides and spaghetti market meals they didn't eat. I need some rest, unpack, and to fix my garden!
Speaking of our garden...Some of my tomato plants perished in our drought and some zucchini plants never came up. We stopped by our favorite place to buy plants and vegetables hoping he would have some plants I could buy. He came out telling us that he was giving away the ones that were left. What a blessing! They look kind of sad so I watered them last night and plan on planting them in the morning.
We took some tomato plants and cucumber plants (he didn't have zucchini). So, unless the seeds finally come up for the zucchini -we will buy some from him when they come in. Oh yeah, he gave me a few begonias too.
We also stopped by a garage sale and I bought more pint jars. I bought 18 pint and 2 half pint jars for $6.00. Come harvest season I will can more in these smaller jars. We seem to only need a pint of tomatoes or green beans lately at dinner.
I picked about a quart of strawberries yesterday and picked our third quart this morning. For a small strawberry patch we are doing good.
We compared them to the ones we had bought at the store and mine have such a good taste. They are also red in the middle instead of white. ... and a lot less expensive!
I saved money on my mealworms for the chickens buy buying in bulk from Amazon. It's a lot of money to buy so much at once but the savings are double. I was paying anywhere from $14 to $20 for a 1 pound at the local feedstores.
I put some of the worms in a bag I saved from my last purchase from the farm store and saved the rest in a small trash can.
