  1. Italian Pizza Recipe:

Here is a simple recipe for classic Margherita pizza:

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 6 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for drizzling
  • 1 can (28 ounces) whole peeled tomatoes, drained
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • Fresh basil leaves

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the water, yeast, sugar, and salt. Stir until the yeast and sugar are dissolved.
  2. Add the flour to the bowl and mix until the dough comes together. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes.
  3. Place the dough in a large, greased bowl and cover with a clean kitchen towel. Let the dough rise in a warm, draft-free place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat your oven to 500°F (260°C).
  5. On a floured surface, divide the dough into 2-3 equal portions. Roll each portion into a thin, circular shape.
  6. Place the dough rounds on a baking sheet or pizza stone.
  7. In a large bowl, crush the drained tomatoes with your hands. Spread the crushed tomatoes evenly over the pizza dough, leaving a 1/2-inch border around the edges.
  8. Drizzle the olive oil over the tomatoes.
  9. Place the mozzarella cheese slices over the top of the pizza.
