My $100 A Month Grocery Budget – Week 14 of 52

Posted by Admin on

This past week was pretty low key in the meal department.

We did a lot of meal prep last week so there were leftovers we were able to enjoy, plus we {or rather the HH} made a few meals that we were able to enjoy over several days.

I’ve also been eating a ton of beans and rice lately {one of top 3 favorite meals} as a way to use up the 10 million jars of salsa that are still on the canning cupboard shelves.

Homemade lasagna {made by my husband}. It was fantastic!

So was the potato soup he made. These days he seems to be cooking once a week so I try to make sure there are at least 2 different meals on his list. 😉

I made a batch of morning glory muffins {and tucked half of them away in the freezer}.

And for Easter dinner we enjoyed turkey, sweet potatoes and peas. But the exciting part {food wise} last week was the sweet deals I got at Shaw’s.

Shaws: Milk $4.14

Shaw’s is running a deal right now that if you buy $50 or more of select gift cards you get a $10 off coupon for your next order {or groceries}.

I bought a $50 gift card to Lowe’s {which we’ll use this summer} and a gallon of milk. The milk was $4.14 {I don’t count the gift card because it’s money we would have spent at that store anyway}.

And sure enough, at the bottom of my receipt there was a $10 off coupon to use on my next order.

Shaws $5.11

I then used the coupon for the following deal:

$1.94 {2} pineapples $0.97 each w/digital coupon
$1.77 mozzarella cheese $1.77 w/digital coupon
$3.42 {6} Bird’s Eye Vegetables $0.57 each w/digital coupon
$2.99 celery hearts {crazy price!}
$4.99 {32 ounces} Ricotta Cheese
—————

 $15.11
-$10.00 coupon

————

$5.11 after deals/coupons

I also purchased another $50 gift card to Lowe’s and received another $10 off my next purchase coupon which I’ll need to use within 7 days. The way I see it, it’s kind of silly not to get the Lowe’s gift cards especially when I know we’ll be shopping there within the next month or two.

$20 worth of “free” groceries? You bet I’ll take them. 😉

How about YOU? Did you find any deals this week? And seriously, don’t you think $2.99 for celery is nuts?

Have a great Monday everyone,

~ Mavis
