Though it's compact enough to fit in your closet, it's also big enough to store up to 25 pairs of shoes. If your shoe collection is such that 25 cubes sounds laughably inadequate, you should know that these units are stackable via included dowels that link the organizers together for stability (you probably wouldn't want to go more than two high, however). One potential tiebreaker if you're comparing ClosetMaid's organizer to other products: the included back panel prevents shoes from being pushed out the back and on to the closet floor where they run the risk of being lost forever. You'll have to assemble the unit out of the box, but this is really easy to do and requires only a hammer and Phillips-head screwdriver. (If 25 cubes is too much, see ClosetMaid product #8505.)
